This library is a vibrant and important center of culture and learning. Although it only has six employees, the library maintains seven-days-a-week service. In addition, the staff coordinates trips to historic locations, reading contests, book discussions, music festivals, lecturers by writers and intellectuals, etc. The history of the Al-Bireh Public Library is entwined with that of Palestinian resistance. In the past it has been hard for them to get books because of Israeli law.
