St. Wiborada, Abby in St. Gallen, Switzerland, 2016

The martyrdom of St. Wiborada occurred at the Abby in St. Gallen in 925 when Magyar marauders invaded this area. While protecting the library and saving the lives of priests Wiborada knelt in prayer when she was murdered with an axe. She was formally canonized in 1047 and is considered a patron saint of libraries and librarians.
