Bibliothèque Municipale de Chambord, Chambord, QC, Canada, 2023

This library is located on a linguistic, cultural, and population boundary. North of here, the high population density of the eastern US and Canada flips and becomes one of the most sparsely populated places on earth. This area around Lac Saint-Jean is one of the most French speaking parts of North America and a center of Quebecois separatist sentiment. Living just north of here are the Indigenous Innu people who have never ceded their territory to Canada. But because of social disruption they suffer today from high levels of substance abuse, domestic violence, and suicide.
